Music video production has been a hallmark for VE over the years. This visually appealing tour around Tokyo is just the latest in our long history of our music video production in Japan. High-end equipment sourcing, tight schedules, long hours, last minute changes are all part of the creative process, which we understand instinctively.

This hour-long special was the first episode of a new series “World Stage” broadcast on MTV networks around the globe. The Coldplay concert was an epic production for virgin earth, with 15 HD cameras and 96 tracks of audio recorded on two 48-channel consoles. virgin earth coordinated between MTV UK and the venue, the promoter and equipment suppliers to create a visually-stunning program.

virgin earth created this cool fast-paced tour through Tokyo using time-laspe photography, compositing chroma key talent shot in the studio. The video was shown to worldwide Cisco executives visiting Japan. Shot on a Canon D5 and using various car mounts.

A collaboration between cultures
1996

Struggle for Hope features cellist Yo-Yo Ma performing JS Bach’s Fifth Suite for Unaccompanied Cello together with famous Kabuki actor and Japanese living legend Bando Tamasaburō. Produced over two years, in 16mm film, with the performance shot in 35mm film, virgin earth tracked the growing creative collaboration between these two giants in their respective worlds. We handled the entire project in Japan, facilitating the cross-cultural ties and creative understanding at the heart of this powerful film.

virgin earth and Gotcha Media combined to produce this live HD simulcast of a high-profile StrikeForce/M-1 Global match from San Jose. We received a live satellite in full HD and mixed this with Japanese talent and color commentary from Aoyama Earth Studio. Gotcha Media produced the live HD web stream for audiences in Japan.

This NatGeo production describes what happened on August 6, 1945, through the eyes of those in the air who delivered the fateful payload and those on the ground who suffered its horrific consequences.

We first met Bon Jovi shooting overseas artists for MTV in Japan in the 1980s. Since then, we have shot numerous concerts for Bon Jovi on subsequent visits to Japan. Part of a unique promotional tour, this Zepp Tokyo concert was filmed in a club setting, with a live satellite uplink to five other Zepp venues throughout Japan. The next day, in postproduction, we created a 60-minute edit of the show for broadcast on MTV Japan and Asia, mixing our 10-camera video images with the 48-track remote audio recording.

ve was brought into this project to shoot Beyonce’s live-to-tape concert filmed at Tokyo’s Budokan at the last minute. ve acted as assistant directors to supply technical and creative expertise, and to smooth coordination between AEG Live and their Japanese suppliers. The show was unique because it was her birthday, and by meeting tight deadlines to take advantage of the time zones we were able to edit 3 songs and send these via satellite to Houston for further birthday celebrations. DirecTV later aired a 60-minute version in the US.
